First Montessori Website in the Philippines is Online
09/23/2002
Manila, Philippines, September 3, 2002. The first ever Montessori school website in the Philippines, www.montessori.ph was launched this week by the Maria Montessori Children's School Foundation (MMCSFI), a not-for-profit organization committed to furthering the philosophy of Italian doctor and educator Maria Montessori.
Sponsored and developed by e-learning and web development leader VinciWorks Limited, www.montessori.ph aims to be an up-to-date source of information for the MMCSFI community in Manila as well as the Montessori community worldwide. The site offers nuggets of information on the Montessori philosophy of education and includes specific school details for students, parents and prospective MMCSFI members.
"Not only is the website a source of information for the Montessori community, it is also a venue for creative expression of our students, teachers, parents and alumni," said Emily Abrera, president of MMCSFI Board of Trustees. "This new website is a great way for our Maria Montessori school to demonstrate the application of the Montessori philosophy in the everyday aspects of a child's development."
To help foster a true Montessori environment, the site uses content and images that are related to the Montessori tools, concepts and materials. Its design is fun and colorful to cater to the children in its target audience. At the same time, it is also smart and clean to demonstrate MMCSFI's commitment to the business of learning.
"We've used an intuitive, easy-to-navigate and quick-to-download design to encourage the MMCSFI community to visit the website often and to encourage participation from everyone," said Tina Nepomuceno-Di Cicco, executive director of VinciWorks Limited and a member of MMCSFI Board of Trustees. "It is also engineered to be updated and maintained by anyone from the school with basic computing knowledge. This ensures that information is up-to-date, web maintenance fees are reduced and the website becomes self-sustaining."
Future development plans for the website include adding a membership section where alumni and other MMCSFI stakeholders can log on, view activities, receive reminders, track contributions and donations and contact MMCSFI members and other Montessori community members all over the world.
