April 13, 2002 was a special day. The school celebrated its Thirtieth Year Anniversary with a Grand Alumni Homecoming that had more than 250 alumni from different batches congregating on the beloved school grounds in Pasay. The occasion was also a retirement party for Aling Baday, a common figure to all Montessori graduates who have ever needed help, succor, or hamburgers. It has also launched the school's ongoing cause: support for the Cancer Warriors Foundation (spearheaded by a graduate!) to increase awareness of childhood cancer and assist children in the PGH Cancer Ward better their quality of life.

The evening was one of camaraderie and reminiscing, discovery and affirmation. There were shared stories of both common and diverse experiences, happy reunions with teachers and friends. The thread of commonality over the thirty-year span proved that Maria Montessori Children's School (at one time known as the Coop) has given many children many happy memories of joyful learning. Short talks by different batch representatives echoed familiar themes. Almost everyone remembers agawan base; the smell of Aling Baday's frying burgers; the undercurrents of healthy competition between the a.m and p.m sessions; the exciting sense of discovery working with the binomial cube, constructive triangles and all the other materials that made the years studying at Pasay unique. The evening was woven with wonderful skeins of optimism and cherished childhood friendships that have weathered the storms of adolescence and adulthood, enriched by a shared sense of community despite the vast differences in ages, something perhaps distinctive about the Montessori experience.
